Psychodynamic Counselling for Adults
in Brighton & Hove

About Me

I am a qualified Psychodynamic therapeutic counsellor, registered with both the BACP and UKCP. I have experience working with people whose lives are affected by:

  • depression
  • anxiety
  • grief
  • harmful relationships
  • historical trauma
  • identity and self image
  • neurodivergence

I provide therapy for those affected by childhood trauma and attachment difficulties. This might be rooted in parental separation or neglect, caregivers with alcohol and other substance dependency, or loss and grief.

I also work with people who carry a sense of sadness and dissatisfaction, and want to find a space to talk and express difficult feelings.

I see clients face-to-face in therapy rooms in Brighton. I also have appointments available online. Please contact me to see if I can meet your needs. I welcome clients who have had previous therapy and wish to explore their inner world further. I also welcome clients who have never experienced talking therapy and might be curious about what it can offer.

What to Expect from Psychodynamic Therapy

My training is in Psychodynamic therapeutic counselling, which seeks to find new understanding through collaborative discussion and thought. We will pay close attention to the story of your life as we explore memories and emotions together, however they appear. I will help you look for connections between your experiences, your family, other close relationships, and current state of mind.

I will offer you a confidential space where you are invited to bring your thoughts and feelings, whether they be related to that morning, six months ago, or fifteen years ago. Through exploring your experience, we might find new understanding about current struggles you might have in relationships, at work, or in day-to-day life in general. This understanding can then help you build towards a more hopeful future.

Our initial session is a chance to meet for the first time and assess whether my style of therapy will be a good fit for you. We will discuss what you hope might happen in the course of our work together.

Counselling for Creatives and People Affected by Neurodivergence

My background is in the arts, and I have a particular interest in creative expression as a process for communicating thoughts and emotions. I have extensive experience working with the challenges faced by creative professionals and performers.

I also have knowledge and experience of neurodivergent-affirming supportive practice, as well as supporting those who live with and care for neurodivergent family members or partners.
